R41

by Sinisa Despotovic (Zagreb, Croatia)

Sinisa spotted this Multiplex at F3J contest.

Front View

Six channels on 35 MHz with five proportional and one switched channel. Long conical tip antenna > 1 meter. The Tx's owner is a boy whose father bought this set around 1974. The Tx is still in use and works flawlessly! It is used for small soarers and trainers.

Internals

(Some doubt has been expressed as to whether this set was manufactured by Multiplex, if anyone can shed any light do let me know - ms).

Francesco Fontani kindly sent me an addendum about the possible origins of this radio:

It is obviusly assembled using MPX parts (case and the two sticks) but it's a custom built transmitter. One funny thing: the R41 logo is a trade mark used by Reber, a Italian producer of sets of dry transfers (artworks, symbols and fonts). Attached a picture of a R41 sheet of dry transfer fonts.
